I visited the book store and purchased a Langenscheidt’s Großwörterbuch Deutsch als Fremdsprache, a thick yellow dictionary written only in the German language for foreign speakers, and Pu der Bär von A.A. Milne, or Winnie the Pooh. I should have had the big yellow book for the TÜM language exam but my understanding was still limited, hopefully this should help me remember the meaning of German words in the German language. Der Vorleser is still a bit difficult for me to comprehend but I’ve gotta break the barrier somehow.
Then I visited the Frauenkirche. It’s the two tower church in the neighborhood of the Marienplatz, built in 1468, it is the oldest and most famous structure in Munich. I like viewing the stain glass windows when it’s raining or completely overcast outside because every side of the church is illuminated with same type of light. The imagines in the windows must be fairly new because I didn’t notice the thinning at the top of each glass piece, plus there were a few windows with very modern patterns and not the traditional story of the Crucifixion. Maybe they were destroyed during World War II. I admit my knowledge of European history is pathetically limited. I should have opted for a European history course in High School or College, but they weren’t required. A language course in German would have helped too, hehe. Na ja! So ist das Leben! (Oh well! Such is life!) Can’t predict all the turns ahead of time… Time to read Wikepedia!
