“Es war die beste Crème Brûlée die ich bisher gegessen habe.” – Me
I couldn’t get that sentence out quick enough for the French waiter to understand but I meant it. The “La Bouille” Restaurant makes the best Creme Brulee on the planet. The hint of Rosemary in the creme is exquisite, the bowl was too shallow for the two of us to share. It was my job to hunt for a place to eat last night because I forgot to shop for groceries on Friday/Saturday. The main dishes are a bit pricey, around 19-20 Euro per plate, but that’s to be expected with a French Restaurant. I had the “Seewolffilet” and Alex had “das Rindfleich” or beef steak, both very tender and delicious. I just looked up Seewolf and it is Atlantic Catfish in English.
Saturday night was the annual “Die Lange Nacht der Münchner Museen”. From 7pm to 2 am people with tickets can experience all the government sponsored museums and utilize the
Hasenhirsch: Fact or Fictionpublic transportation (tram, bus, U-bahn) in the city for 15 Euro, and there was a lot to chose from, approximately 87 different venues! We visited only 4 different sites: the Paläontologisches Museum, Städtische Galerie Im Lenbachhaus, Amerika Haus, and the Botanischer Garten München-Nymphenburg. Somehow Alex seems to think I resemble a Hasenhirsch, which went extinct some “16 Millionen” years ago.

Die Lange Nacht I am not convinced. We saw beautiful samples of petrified wood and skeletons of pre-historic creatures.
The Lenbachhaus (pretty cool website) had paintings from Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc, and, to my surprise this painting (right), which was used for this year’s theme. The Botanical Garten was really neat; one room smelled of lychee fruit, yum. I wish I had brought my flashlight, though, some of the greenhouses weren’t lit. They have a huge collection of cacti and a lot of plants I recognized as nuisance and exotic species in Florida88| All the same, my plant loving dad and grandfather would have gone gaga because there was something in every corner, large or small, and very unique. Overall, an excellent weekend full of new things.
It’s still sunny but the temperature remains at around 10 C, the wind is biting. Everyone from the Oktoberfest Krewe has returned to their home countries and I’ve gotta find some other friends to practice German on my level. The Fall leaves are amazingly beautiful and all of the Biergartens are just about closed for the season. There is always change here…
