Its Muy Bart Day!

 Prost!
Yeah okay. To me, its not too exciting of a birthday because it’s a regular even-numbered age, 28. I prefer to celebrate the Prime Numbers (or die ungerade Zahlen). My experience has been that the even numbered years bring a certain amount of chaos to my life, where as the prime years denote something pivotal or exciting will occur. Call it what you will, (Schicksal)destiny or superstition; it’s just purely my own observation.

I’ll make it a point to change this pattern, but I am already off to a shaky start. First I cracked the face to my handy (opps! damn gloves and the stones on the sidewalk…I thought I was safe with the snow buffering the fall, puh) and then my umbrella came undone on one of the ribs.

But my classmates sung happy birthday to me in german, same tune only ‘Fröh Geburtstag, viel Glück!’… and that was pretty darn special. I walked to our new apartment from class today in the rain and looked at all the snow everywhere. It’s approx. 30 minutes by foot between my apartment and the school…that’s do-able. I took some measurements of our bedroom and kitchen to see what all will fit where (IKEA here we come, um, a little at a time) and picked up some Palak Paneer togo for my birthday lunch. Ah, those people at the restaurant are super sneaky. I turned down tea or something to drink while I waited but they put Tomatensuppe in front of me, so I had to accept. So the money I save by picking up my lunch went toward tip to the ‘kind’ waiter. It was lecker (tasty) soup, though, but worth the 45 cents?…hmmm, that could have been laundry money:-/

Tonight, ALex arrives and we will go to the Amerika Haus and listen to a lecture by a professor from Rice University explain what went wrong during the flooding in New Orleans after Katrina.
