Lange Nacht, Langes Wochenende
We’re in the middle of another rain siege. Okay, only an occassional torrential downpour but mostly mushy rainy days…with the sun bursting out for a 2-minute peek-a-boo. I’m beginning to resent that game >:( However, the long weekend was not a floppy sop.
We had our grill-out on Thursday. Alex with his profi grill turned our spread with mastery skill but missed out on my homemade mashed potatoes. It’s called Kartoffel Puree here and apparently people believe it comes from a box. It sounds like baby-food to me and I met a guy who hated Kartoffel Puree. It’s probably from the name and the preservatives. My father never made boxed potatoes so I’m not really fond of Pulver Puree either.
Max presented us with the final piece to our housewarming gift thursday night. We received a mysterious crank the previous weekend. With all the pieces together, Max’s puzzle is actually an antique coffee grinder. Max couldn’t give it to us the last weekend because he was repainting the ground drawer. You can adjust the grain size and apparently it gives a better flavor than an electric mill. We can’t wait to use it…we just have to buy some whole beanos.
Saturday was Die Lange Nacht Der Musik. My planning turned to be successful and to my surprise, very romantic. The rain stopped for the evening so the air was crisp and fresh. Although I couldn’t help myself from being a bit critical of the 2nd classical guitar player. I just can’t stand musicians with bigger egos than their playing ability. However, we enjoyed the effort just the same.
We made our way to Stachus, shared a romantic table at Stacherias looking over the fountain, and listened to a german singer/songwriter for a while. We ended the evening with a jazz trio at Conti Bistro. It was the musical highlight of the evening so we decided to stay there the rest of the night. After taking the shuttlebus and saying our goodnites to Otto Von Wittelsbacher, we walked the rest of the way home singing jazzy Mozart tunes.

very romantic date – i checked out the site for the restaurant, and could make out a few words, like ‘tea’.
