An outstanding game against Argentina. I wanted to give up at minute 77, took out my computer to surf and then 3 minutes later the Germans scored. That changed everything. What a rush! Germany 5:3, in a penalty shoot-out following a tense 1-1 draw.
Here’s the song of the hour. It’s played constantly. Alex and I keep singing, “Wer wird Weltmeister sein?” [who will be champion?] although the song says, “Werden wir Weltmeister sein.” [we will be champion.]
The band’s called Sportfreunde Stiller and their song is called `54, `74, `90, 2006. For all the years they’ve won the World Cup…and their optimism for this year.
And a little fun from Mundstuhl. There’s enough english in there for most to understand and a few words you’ll recognize that fit the typical german sterotypes. (I’ll assume it was filmed in Mallorca.) German’s making fun of Germans, but in a way only Germans would understand.
It seems most everyone is now rooting for France since they beat the favorite, Brazil. I didn’t see the game so I’m in the dark as to what happened. This whole experience has been one wild ride. It was sad to see Argentina and England fans and players crying after their games. They really put so much heart into it. But if France wins, Alex may need to seek other employment opportunities. His boss would never let up for the next 4 years. I think Italy has the best change. But why not Portugal, since this could be their first? Part of me would like to see Germany win for the anthropological perspective. How will Germans party this time, when there is only 3 km left of black, red, and yellow fabrik left in the entire country?

The Mundstuhl song & video is brilliant!
With the optimism in Germany at the moment I think Germany will probably will win the World Cup!
um, yeah, still not watching the game over her, but i hear about it once in awhile… yes, we’re isolated.
