We are home safe and sound to a warm Munich. According to our kind friends and neighbor, who took care of our plants and mail, there have been no signs of winter here this past month. We noticed this on the S-bahn on the way home, the vegetation looks confused: there is green grass growing on the Autobahn shoulders.
It’s very surreal being back. Part of me says, oh yeah, this is where I call home now. It feels good to be back even though I’m still foreign in a familiar place. I really did miss hearing the train racing by and the church bells on the hour. We took an hour nap in the afternoon and I sleep like a rock at the bottom Mariana Trench. Now I’m a sleep junky, waiting for 10 pm to toll.
Our flight left from Tampa at 11:20 am yesterday to Charlotte, NC. Charlotte International happens to be my favorite airport to layover because there are rocking chairs scattered throughout the terminals. Our layover was extended by two hours, most likely to consolidate flights. I’m not sure how much money they saved because we rocketed across the Atlantic with over 600 miles per hour for 8 hours and 45 minutes to arrive in Munich around 10:30 am. I like the shorter travel time although seeing Greenland icebergs was pretty cool despite the longer plane ride a mile above the earth surface.
So everything is unpacked and the laundry is in the machine. I brought my diploma, viola and and a few kitchen items. Most my belongs survived the trip except for a couple of bowls. I’m pretty excited to be able to hang a one of my accomplishments on the wall next to Alex’s and to be able to play my instrument again. Maybe these’ll kick up the Feng Shui home mojo up a notch

Welcome home. I know what you mean. When I lived in Berlin I felt the same. I’d hoped we would live there longer than we did, but it wasn’t meant to be.
We’re finally due for some serious snow tomorrow.
Glad you had a great trip and made it home safely!! We enjoyed seeing you guys and hope that next time is on your turf!!

From one home right back to the other, eh? Good to hear you landed safely and suffered no more than a couple lost bowls. As ever I’ll be looking forward to more cultural insights from far across the sea
