Amtliche Beglaubigung
So we ate too much last night…4 hours at the french restaurant, Rue Des Halles, on Steinstraße. Alex and I opted for the 3 course menu, but the portions were a little more American than French, but quality was excellent. I had tender calamari for an appetizer, sorbet with hard liquor (mama!), Heilbutt or halibut for a main course with a mussel creme sauce (cleaned the plate), and creme bruhle about the size of my head (struggle with this one). We ordered a half a bottle of wine of Chablis but the waiter made a mistake and gave us the other half on the house…we really didn’t need it. I am not used to eating so much, but apparently it’s big with the American conference go-ers because there was a group of 5 two tables down. Watch out though, they don’t take credit cards just EC card (similar to a debit card).
Woke up this morning got to Inlingua early and switched my class from the intensive course to evenings. Twice a week around 7pm for about 1 1/2 hours. I said goodbye to Henriette and the other students, they all were very supportive and I finally felt like I deserved to be proud.
FernUni wanted a ‘amtliche Beglaubigung‘ or a certified copy of my test results. This is proving to be a daungting task. People suggested the Rathaus, okay, where? Beautiful building…I’ve walked past it so many times but had never entered it. But there’s nobody to direct you. Post office, the lady doesn’t even live in Munich so she had no idea. I thought, ‘ok, back home, I needed a Notary for something like this, they’re in banks, hospitals, district, everywhere!’ Not here, uhg.
Kreisverwaltungsreferat (KVR) was my next stop until I ran into Samir, he said he would help with my Anerkenntis…I wasn’t sure what the exact definition of that was but after buying a 4,80€ day ticket, visiting his apartment in Schwabing then visiting LMU to fix his Moroccan name on his university ID card, then a castle in Stachus…still everything pointed to the KVR. But they lock the doors between 12 and 2 for lunch. A whole morning wasted. And it started to hail ice. I’ve had it! Going home.
There was a man in my apartment when I got home around 12:30…it was Alex…on a sick day. He visited the doc to check out this business with his Thyroid…a heritary condition that has met another generation. He’ll have an ultrasound in a couple of weeks.
I looked on the Internet, notaries in Germany are usually the top 10% of those graduated from law school. They cannot advertise their services and the charge a hefty fee for reg. stuff compared to the US, but the prices are set by law, so no fishing for best buys. It turns out there are two KVR and I would have go to the wrong one if I had stuck with this quest… Better to leave it for another day and take care of my Schnuki.
