short look back
Before we jet to spend two weeks on a volcano..
With the warmest thoughts and best wishes for a wonderful winter solstice and a very Happy New Year, we wish you peace, good health and prosperity in the coming year.
A look back on 2008:

avoidance
Yes, I know you called two weeks ago and left a message. At the time my gums around the newly filled teeth were smarting and the soft fleshy part under my tongue was developing a sore from being punctured by the too-large-for anyone’s-mouth x-rays your dental assistant made me bite down on. I was avoiding your call, your office, your instruments of numbing madness.
Oh, so it would seem I need to have another filling, this time in my lower.. what was that German word again, it rhymes with keester. Oh yeah, Kiefer. Fine, the ordering of x-rays of the lower jaw were deemed profitable after all.
And my crown is undicht? What could that mean? It’s leaking!? No wait, that translation can’t be right. It’s not air tight? Is it cracked? It’s only 4 years old!
Yes, yes. I will make an appointment. Oh, the joys of soft teeth and being unemployed, even a student discount can’t save me now. Merry Christmas to me.
pronounce the ‘k’..
..in “knee”, and you just spoke in German. How ’bout that?
My knee is doing well. My tibia is still sensitive to pressure along my shin, near my knee cap and inner meniscus. I’m walking without the 550€ metal brace because it’s more trouble than its worth. The thing keeps slipping down my leg and pinches the inner-side of my knee. Now’s the time to start krafttraining (strength training) because I’ve lost considerable muscle that is supposed to protect my ligaments. What a balancing act. Here are pictures of my progress:

it’s so big!It has been a 4-day weekend for us. I’ve been studying my Fragebogen for my European drivers license test and Alex has been studying the features of our new television. We are able to hook up our computer to the HD screen and let the movies fly. No more burning stuff to disk. Handy.
tenley and meTonight we are off to another Halloween party with our English-speaking compatriots. It should be ghastly. We went to Robin’s party on the 31st but left at midnight because the knee was being a pussy and my tolerance for spirited beverages isn’t what it was over a month ago at the Okfest. Tomorrow we’re headed to Regensburg to finally meet other fellow expat blogers, like Christina. I’m looking forward to good Bavarian food and good company. Cheer to you all.
