I say any town with three k’s in it’s name has got to be something special (just don’t throw any American History into this bit). وانا اقول اي مدينة مع ثلاثة ك 'sفيه اسم وحصل ان يكون شيئا خاصا (فقط لا يلقى أي الى هذا التاريخ الاميركي بت). Just like in German, you pronounce every letter, which gives you roughly: Ka-no-ka . مثلما في الالمانيه ، ونطق كل رسالة لك ، ويتيح لك تقريبا : كا - كا - لا. Knokke is a posh town. Knokke هو posh المدينة. In a nut shell, if you aren’t wearing a fur coat, mittens, or hat in the winter, you aren’ta regular visitor here. جوزه في شل ، واذا كنت لا يرتدي معطف الفراء ، قفازات ، قبعة او في فصل الشتاء ، كنت aren'ta العاديه الزائر هنا. Serious. خطيرة.
We picked a pretty foggy day to visit Knokke in late December. ونحن باختيار جميلة ضبابيه في اليوم لزيارة knokke في اواخر كانون الاول / ديسمبر. With the wind and cold temperatures it was difficult to enjoy the normally beautiful scenery. مع الرياح ودرجات الحراره الباردة كان من الصعب ان يتمتع عادة مشهد جميل. I remember my feet were freezing that day and after 30 minutes of walking, I couldn’t move my toes. أتذكر قدمي تم تجميد ذلك اليوم وبعد 30 دقيقة من المشي ، وانا لا يمكن ان تحرك بلدي اصابع القدم. Misery. البؤس.
Besides walking there are plenty of things to do in winter on the shore. وبالاضافة الى المشي هناك العديد من الأمور للقيام في فصل الشتاء على الشاطئ. In the off-season dogs are allowed to play on the beach. في غير موسمها ويسمح للكلاب تقوم به على الشاطئ. Kids pedal bicycles or four-wheelers on the sidewalk. اطفال دواسه الدراجه او اربعة عجلة على الرصيف. There are also a few joggers and people fishing on the wave barriers. وهناك ايضا عدد قليل من الناس joggers وصيد الاسماك على موجة الحواجز. You could take in the architecture. هل يمكن ان تتخذ في الهندسه المعماريه. I loved the thatched roof tops on the buildings. كنت احب السطح سقف بالقش على قمم المباني. They look like orderly bird nests made of water reeds. انها تشبه اعشاش الطيور منظم المياه المصنوعه من القصب. The older thatched roofs are especially pretty because green moss grows on them. مسقف سقوف الاكبر سنا هي جميلة وخاصة لأن الاخضر الطحلب ينمو عليها. There is also plenty of art to be seen or money to blow at the casino. وهناك ايضا الكثير من الفن او ان ينظر الى المال لضربة في كازينو لبنان. Still all these things can’t beat a hot coffee in a cozy, warm restaurant on the beach. لا تزال كل هذه الامور لا يمكن ان فازت ساخنه القهوه في cozy ، حاره مطعم على الشاطئ.
We stopped at a Brasserie called Andorra and ordered three cappuccinos. توقفنا في Brasserie دعا اندورا وامرت ثلاث cappuccinos. I secretly wanted to put my toes into the hot mixtures. الاول يريد سرا لوضع بلادي اصابع القدم الى الخلطات الساخنه. But on all thoughts, that’s just gross. ولكن على كل الافكار ، ان اجمالي فقط. I noticed that people prefer to speak in French in this town, even though the way they speak French it sounds very obnoxious and harsh. لاحظت ان الناس يفضلون التحدث باللغه الفرنسية في هذه البلده ، على الرغم من الطريقة التي تتكلم الفرنسية الامر يبدو والبغيضه وقاسيه للغاية. I spoke in German to the waiter and some how that worked alright. تكلمت باللغه الالمانيه الى النادل وكيف ان بعض عملت حسنا. We still had a little bit of hunger so we decided to each enjoy a small bowl of soup, or so we thought. ونحن ما زال لديه قليلا من الجوع لكي قررنا ان يتمتع كل قدح صغير من الحساء ، أو هكذا كنا نظن. Because Knokke is a so affluent, we mistakenly believed a 14 Euro fish soup would be a small appetizer. Knokke لان ذلك هو وفرة ، ونحن تعتقد خطأ 14 الف يورو حساء السمك سيكون صغير فاتح الشهيه. Instead we each received a deep, enamel crock pot with fresh fish, muscles, crab, shrimp and veggies. وبدلا من اننا ونالت كل منهما عميق ، قطعه الخزف والمينا وعاء مع الاسماك الطازجه ، والعضلات ، السلطعون ، والجمبرى وveggies. My bowl alone was enough to feed a small army. سلطانيه بلادي وحدها تكفي لاطعام جيش صغير. Lucky me, I love soup. لاكي لي ، انا احب الحساء. It was simply delicious and filling. انها مجرد لذيذ وملء. My toes were warm and toasty from the inside out. بلدي اصابع القدم كانت حاره ودافئ بشكل ممتع من الداخل.
In some ways Knokke remindes me of Harbor Island in Tampa. في بعض النواحي knokke remindes لي من ميناء الجزيرة في تامبا. It is a cute town and a nice place to visit if you have ties there or an eager wallet wanting to be emptied. وهو لطيف ومدينة نيس لزيارة مكان وإذا كان لديك وجود روابط او المحفظه حريصة يريد ان يكون اخلاء.
